Bridge Pile Installation

October 4, 2024

The Ladyface Greenway Project is preparing to begin construction of a bridge over the channel. The first major step is pile drilling where deep foundation elements, or piles, are installed to ensure the bridge’s stability. This process requires the use of specialized equipment like drilling rigs that dig into the soil to set the piles. This activity will generate noise and vibrations. Dust will be monitored and controlled at all times.

Pile Installation Schedule & Sequencing

• The bridge requires a total of 114 piles to support the structure.
• Phase 1 of pile installation will begin in the northwest corner of the channel and head northeast. Phase 2 of pile installation will begin in the southeast corner of the channel and head southwest. See image A.
• Production rate is approximately 1-2 piles per working day.

  • Activity: Bridge Pile Installation
  • Start Date: Mid October 2024
  • Duration: Approximately 8 months
  • Typical Working Hours: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, MON to FRI *possible extended working hours and days with advance notification.

What to Expect

  • Large machinery, drilling rigs, and construction vehicles on site.

  • Delivery of long rebar (up to 50 ft) and casing (pipes) to project site.
  • Dump trucks moving soils from site to yard.
  • Moderate disruption from construction noise and vibrations.
  • Dust will be monitored and controlled at all times.
  • Possible extended working hours and days with advance notification.
